Jail break for grandmother, 60, in fury at granddaughter, 29

“Hello, we need help right now.”

That was the chilling 999 call from Mr Murdaugh’s home in Kellikside. Ms Satterfield, 60, was found outside the house after the man allegedly fought back, stabbing himself twice in the left shoulder and stabbing himself in the right arm, which ended up bloodying a neighbour’s door.

Diane Murdaugh became concerned when her pal stayed away for an extended period, and had gathered all the worldly possessions for her friend that she left behind in Miami, Florida.

“What’s the matter? Are you okay? I’m calling just to see if you’re okay” D, 911 call during incident

Ms Satterfield’s friend, D, a 37-year-old mother of two, told a dispatcher: “What’s the matter? Are you okay? I’m calling just to see if you’re okay.

“She ran and she didn’t let me know where she went. She hasn’t come back for an hour.”

At first, she refused to identify Ms Satterfield’s location, but when pressed, D eventually said, “This is going to be bad. They stabbed her.”

Both women had been friends for years and were very much like sisters.

On March 28, Ms Satterfield’s son Jack told reporters at a press conference: “It’s a mother, a friend, a soul mate.”
