Meadows helping in investigation of ‘fraudulent’ electoral college votes

A person familiar with the investigation said Congressman Mark Meadows, R-N.C., is cooperating with the investigation of House Special Committee on the Electoral College, which is conducting a one-week hearing.

“Mr. Meadows answered every question given to him and was provided with access to the results of the investigation,” the person said. “While I do not know the motive for these attacks, we need to make sure that our democracy has the protections necessary to protect our system of government.”

“We all must stop this vicious abuse of power and seek justice,” Meadows added.

The 14-member committee is investigating whether President Trump may have rigged the 2016 election against Hillary Clinton by manipulating the electoral college vote.

Meadows is likely to appear before the committee at some point soon to address his claims that Trump wanted to prevent Clinton from winning the presidency. Trump has said no such effort was made and he is running a legitimate campaign.

The committee’s investigating is led by chairman Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., along with ranking member Rep. Tom Malinowski, D-N.J.

Congressional investigators said last month that they had found little evidence so far to support Meadows’ claims.

Meadows said he has to provide his testimony to the committee “so that the committee can make a decision as to whether what I claim to have knowledge of is true.”

Members of the committee said in a letter released Monday that they believe the committee investigation into whether Trump defrauded voters into thinking he would win the presidency has a reasonable chance of proving it.
