American talk show host Jimmy Kimmel discussed his “over the top” accident in an interview with Doctor Who’s David Tennant.

Kimmel described how during a visit to his home town of Chicago, a hotel garage door fell on his hand, burning off a significant amount of his hair.

“I decided that we would play the game of ‘Would You Rather?’ while I was out [on television] at the end of that day,” he said.

Viewers may be familiar with his catchphrase, where the comedian asks: “Would you rather?”

But Kimmel added: “He would rather that I did not have my hand burned.”

Kimmel, who hosts ABC’s late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, recalled how the idea for the episode came about after he was seen shouting: “My hair is on fire!” in the background.

Speaking to Doctor Who star Tennant on his Snapchat channel, he said he was “flabbergasted”.

“I [thought] it was either a joke or you’ve got a great wardrobe sense, but it was the reality,” he said.

He explained that for his TV appearance, the studio was shut down and his cheek was slicked down with a substance.

Show director David Ayer, co-writer and director of Suicide Squad, said: “I’m stunned that we shot that.”

“We did the dialogue, you shot the last 15 minutes of the show and, all of a sudden, there it is.”

He added: “I’m still a little shocked that he survived the embarrassment and pain of being burned without it completely f***ing him up.”

Meanwhile, Kylie Jenner put on a brave face when she put her hair back in its natural state – a day after she revealed a bizarre process of hair straightening.

Jenner posted a video to her Snapchat with the caption: “Just had the strangest hair process and it’s done!”
